Our adventure to the Lower Antelope Canyon

We chose to book our trip with Dixie lower antelope canyon tour due to their positive reputation and legitimacy. Opting for the 11:15 am time slot, we were captivated by the play of light and shadows, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere.
Despite the expected crowds, we were fortunate to capture numerous stunning moments during our visit.

Moreover, only two tour guides are permitted to enter the canyon simultaneously, maintaining a manageable crowd and preserving the tranquillity of the surroundings.
The lower Antelope Canyon tour is approximately an hour long; hence we dressed comfortably for it. Embracing style and comfort, we wore our brand-new Jordans to embark on this down-to-earth adventure.
Amit and I had an incredible experience exploring Lower Antelope Canyon. The stunning beauty and unique features of the canyon left us in awe.
Pro tip- During the journey from Grand Canyon to Antelope Canyon via Cameron, Arizona, there are not many designated pitstops, gas stations or networks. So download offline maps on Google, and pack some snacks and water to stay on the right path, nourished and hydrated throughout the journey.
During our drive to Antelope Canyon, we encountered two instances where the time zone changed, resulting in the clocks moving ahead an hour. Suddenly, our scenic drive transformed into a mini-panic attack, as we worried about potentially missing our scheduled time slot. Furthermore, due to the lack of network coverage for most of the way we were cut off.
The tour operators recommend informing them at least 30 minutes in advance if you anticipate being late so that they can reschedule your tour. If you happen to miss your scheduled time, the availability of alternate slots will determine whether you can be accommodated later.
Let us share the details of what actually happened.
Being aware of the different time zones in the USA, we conducted extensive research online and double-checked the information multiple times. Knowing that Antelope Canyon follows the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST), we departed from our hotel at the perfect time to make it forty-five minutes before our tour.
As we reached the Cameron, we saw a shocking change to our arrival time from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, causing a moment of panic. We were still only halfway to our destination, and the clock was ticking towards our scheduled arrival time.
Unfortunately, the lack of network signals prevented us from communicating with the tour operator to inform them about the potential delay. Baffled by what happened, we felt a sense of hopelessness, but we remained patient and determined to reach our destination. We were hopeful that our research was correct and that the Antelope Canyon lies in the MST.
After some time, our network signals returned and the time zone changed back to the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST), aligning with the tour operator's schedule. This sudden shift in time zone put our worries to rest, and we embraced the remainder of our beautiful desert journey to Antelope Canyon with a sense of relaxation.
To avoid any unnecessary stress or disappointment, it is recommended to double-check the time zone changes along your route and plan your travel accordingly.
Upon reaching Antelope Canyon at our designated time, we hydrated ourselves with some water. Being mindful of the intense sun, we reapplied sunscreen and equipped ourselves with hats and sunglasses for added protection. With our preparations complete, we proceeded directly to the check-in counter.
The friendly staff checked our reservation and directed us to the waiting area, where we patiently waited for our tour to commence.
Pro Tip: Within the tour operator's premises at Antelope Canyon, they have very basic restroom facilities with no running water. It is advisable to plan your restroom breaks accordingly before entering the premises to ensure a comfortable experience throughout the tour.
